Let's get visual

We visited this viennese art university a couple days ago, and some of the works there were really inspiring. These are some photos from that day - some are of the works by the students there, some are just random snapshots i made of interesting things (well, for me at least lol).

However, some of the "art"works there were really disgusting. One video installation was of two girls sticking their fingers down each others' throats and making each other puke. Sorry, but how sick is that? Is that art? I want to hear some of your opinions!

This is the huge painting I'm currently working on. It's all black and white atm (charcoal and white acrylic), but i'm going to start painting with oils next week. What does this piece so far remind you of?

16+1=17

Here are some belated photos from my birthday dinner last week (the 20th of jan). How could i have forgotten to mention that I had turned 17? Not that i feel any different though. Anyway, my sister gave me Lola by Marc Jacobs for my sister - she's such a cutie. That's her with me in the picture. She's a little nerd just like me haha

The Oberlaa cake was orgasmic and I munched on macarons all night. I always like to imagine I'm in Paris in a Sofia Coppola movie when I eat them, for some reason. I'm weird and wannabe-marie-antoinette that way.

I'm wearing a floral summer dress, tights from H&M and my darling Doc Martens

Btw I'm thinking of making this posting part of my blog wider, so that I can upload better and clearer photos in larger resolutions (not too big though - wouldn't want to s-l-o-w d-o-w-n your comps haha). What do you think? And i might start playing with the layout, so excuse me if everything starts looking dodgy!

Comme des femmes

I'm wearing a coat from Red and Green, Doc martens, jeggings from H&M, and a cashmere scarf from Cordina

Here are some photos from the photoshoot for Skip Class magazine, on sunday! There was another model, Katrin, who was tall, blue-eyed and blonde. She two years older than me and was incredibly nice, as was the rest of the team.

We when got there, we were immediately given cups of tea and Ken, the half-japanese makeup artist, immediately started with our looks. For me, they did a typical "asian" makeup look - strong black eyeliner (cringe! I've never worn so much black on my eyes before) and deep red wine lips. The result was quite fascinating despite not being able to recognize myself haha.

The lace mouse ears were inspired by Comme des Garcon's winter look, popularized immensely by MK and Ashley's appearance with them. I thought they were quite a nuisance, because i couldn't move too much, but they turned out quite good in the photos!

Many thanks to Bettina, Andrea, Ken and Katrin! You guys were simply awesome and so much fun to work with!

Color me crazy

This has got to be the most fantastically whimsical lookbook I've ever seen! Everything is so fun and coloring and young! It's the Prada fantasy lookbook SS10 and I'm quite in love with these. Pictures via fashionsquad

p.s. The photoshoot went so well on sunday! There'll be a post soon with some backstage pictures and I'll write more about the experience there.

Behind my ray-ban

I haven't been taking a lot of (correction: any) outfit pictures lately, so here are some from august! Sorry if you're getting sick of this t-shirt; it's just that i love it way too much! I got it as a thank you gift for participating in the Berlin Fashion Week last summer and it's pretty much my favourite t-shirt atm :) The shoes are from Belle and the nerd glasses are from Ray-ban. Can you believe I actually got them for only 30 euros?

What do you think of film cameras? I was all grumpy at my mom because she'd thrown away all my toy film cameras, so she ended up giving me a couple of her old cameras :) She's still got a huge collection! She won't let me near the more expensive ones though. I understand - I'm quite fussy over my gadgets too!

A bunch of inspiration photos I've collected lately. These collages are so fun to make! I also love how the overall colors and order of the photos sets the mood. For this one, the mood is romantic, cool and feminine. Have a lovely weekend everyone! I know I'll have my nose stuck in books the whole time, as i've got quite a stressful week ahead. What are your plans for the weekend?

We say summer holds such wonderful things

I want to go home so badly. I've lived in this foreign scene for way too long, for my entire life, and it has never felt like home. I want to go back to beijing, see my whole family and be with people who embrace me as one of their own. In this place, no one takes you seriously if you look different. It's shitty. I want to travel, to go away from here and to stay away from here. Cannot wait until it's time to go to university! Then it'll be a fresh new start without history and the past pulling you back. But, for that time to arrive, I must work hard now. So I'll get back to work! End of ramble

These pictures are from the summer. It was hot as hell (sauna-like in fact) so I didn't really feel like dressing up with accessories and all. Take this as a sample of my casual and no-fuss wear. I'm wearing a Hugo Boss t-shirt, H&M shorts and Converse sneakers.

Rock and roses

I have an inspiration folder full of photoshoot ideas that I love. Here are some of the most recent ones. Aren't the colors fabulous? And the composition of each photo...the placements, the face expressions, the bodies. Everything is perfectly balanced and pretty to the eye. Photos like these will never stop inspiring me! Btw, if any of you have any good inspiration sites (my favourites include Studdedheard, the Electric and Daydream Lily), please send me a link or post it as a comment? I'm desperate for even more sources of inspiration! All photos from The Electric

p.s. A koala hug to all those who gave me tips for my photoshoot on sunday! Hopefully, I'll be able to take some pictures and share the process with you.

Where the wild things are

A quick post, then I have to dive back into my essays and revision. These are the photos I was telling you about in my previous post! They were taken at my friend's house (she has the awesomest walls I must say!). Hopefully, we'll get together and do another shoot soon :) On another note, I will be going to a photoshoot on sunday! Bettina from Skip Class magazine chose me to model for their february issue as well as another girl. I can hardly wait! I've never been to a real photoshoot, so I'd really appreciate any advice/tips from those of you who have modelled or done a photoshoot!

Mellow and yellow and sequins

Mango dress and tights, Doc Martens boots

I was out all day today, first shopping for furniture and then Chinese school, so now I'm so tired. Plus, it was like -600 degrees celsius outside, so I think I might definitely get sick again. Yesterday I had a Guitar Hero afternoon with some friends and we had a "Where the wild things are" photoshoot. I'm still in the process of sorting them out. I can't wait to show you all though!

These were taken a couple days ago. I was sorting through my closet and found this yellow sequined dress I forgot about. Before storing it away with all my other summer (ie. not now) clothes, I had to take some pictures with it. Have a nice weekend everyone!
