Tiger at night

Dress from 1216 / Bracelets and rings from Beijing market

Yesterday I said goodbye to Sewon, Taurin, James and Re, some great friends I made here in Beijing. It's funny the people you bump into in your life, especially when it's through blogs. Because without mine, I would never have gotten to know such wonderful people. We met at Sanlitun, first for fun drinks at The Apothecary (apparently the place doesn't have a chinese name, you just have to pronounce it in a chinese accent) and then Kai, which was packed with foreigners and super cheap. Sewon has some great shots throughout the night which I shall post after she posts them!

Night at The Place

Vintage shirt / Vintage skirt / Express bag / Camper shoes / Vivienne Westwood necklace / Bracelets from market in Beijing

This little bucket bag has become a very earnest companion of mine. It fits everything without feeling like an endless medieval pond (as with my other snake-print bag) and it's colorful and confusing, just like me! These were taken yesterday at this place called The Place for a late stroll, and even when the heavens opened up, the sky still remained its starry and mystical (and digital) self.

Twists and turns

A rather touristy attire for wondering down old Beijinger HuTongs (little alleyways that used to be the typical smaller streets of Beijing) and poking my head into little concept stores - where I found this glove-fitting bag for my G10. Only ten days left in this adorable food-kingdom!! (Really uncertain as to if the exclamations are meant to be happy or depressed at this point..) My cousin Christina is visiting on her winter holiday from New Zealand, so we've been hanging out, eating and shopping loads (our plan to lose some cheek fat has embarrassingly failed at the face of endless dumplings, Korean BBQ and asian snacks).

Beijing Street Style / By the Drum Tower

I spotted Alexis, a writer, in one of the intricately-curated clothing stores down the Drum Tower East street. I find her easy combination of denim dress and pop-in-your-face shades the perfect inspiration for stressless summer dressing.

798 Beijing Art District

CTRL top, Zara high waisted pants, Vagabond gladiators, Raybans

Last week at 798, a vast creative compound situated around the outer rings of Beijing. For my readers in Vienna: think MuseumsQuartier but just two hundred times bigger with over two dozen exhibitions and numerous sectors, including photography, life-size and traditional painting. The area is scattered with cute little European cafes and pizza restaurants, and there's an adorable mini hot dog store full of typical old-Beijing yoghurt, where I pigged out a bit too much.

BEIJING - A JUMPSTART

Incredibly fast-paced days traveling around the city, meeting new people, shopping, and eating the most happy-making foods, and altogether feeling as if time is passing by way too quickly - that's life in Beijing.

The view from our place overlooking the CBD area. It's quite startling to go out and only see modern architecture, nothing reminiscent of Chinese culture and traditions. For those, you need to go to HuTongs or further away from the central ring. That's my sister, by the way, tall and gangly, who people mistake to be either my friend or a distant cousin because we just do not look alike at all.

H&M conscious collection top and skirt, Converse sneakers, Mango bag, Persol sunglasses. I think this was taken on my third day here so I was relatively pale for my standards. I'm a few mellow shades darker now and the whitening cream adverts that pop up all the time on TV aren't helping.

My uncle's cat, Rado. He likes conversing in varying degrees of Meows, doesn't like being picked up, and expects his dinner meat at 5pm sharp.

I started a little food diary of all the dishes and restaurants I like here in Beijing, mostly for future reference or friends, but I can post some up if you're interested.

Nighttime at WangFuJing, a massive pedestrian shopping street that sells absolutely everything.

In between hectic highways after sunset. Anyway, this is quite a brief cram-in for what I'm aware is the first post in a while, but I've been taking so many photos so expect either an outfit post or another photodiary sometime this week!

IBIZA / at night

Calvin Harris and Deadmau5 at Amnesia. Probably one of the best nights of my life. I danced like a hyper grasshopper for 6 hours straight.

Zara dress, Stefanel jeans jacket, H&M bag.

Geometric tights courtesy of American Apparel, Zara dress.

And this marks the end of the Ibiza posts! There's so much still to write about but I really want to up to date again with posting and there's a lot going on in Beijing right now. Meeting family, bloggers. I'm even going to try to brave it up and shoot some eccentric Beijing street style because the looks here are just incredible. There is no exact 'style' here but everyone dresses incredibly uniquely and confidently.

IBIZA BY DAY - PART TWO

My first Email-to-Blogger post from Beijing! A desperate option in my case, I assure you. I was a little smartynoob and didn't manage to get a working VPN in time so I'm completely Facebook/Blogger/Youtube-less. Dayoung helped me set up this thing and hopefully it works! Anyway, I really miss talking to you all and reading your comments. I thought I'd finish posting photos from Ibiza first so here is part two of the daytime photos, mostly taken at Playa d'en Bossa beach, right next to our hotel.

Coming up: Ibiza by night and some Beijing photodiaries.
