The Avant/Garde Diaries. At first glance it seems to be another digital platform, another online magazine, but on another it is a clean and pristine archive of creative thought and character. Launched by Mercedes-Benz, the site focuses on the avant-garde, obviously, but instead of fixed content by fixed staff, the light is on subjective opinions from contributors within the creative field, asking each to introduce someone or something that they consider to be ahead of their time.
What makes the magazine more than just on the screen is its three-day festivals - hosted in metropolises around the world (the first one in July took place in Berlin), each curated in turn by an expert from the creative industry. So each 'feature' in the magazine actually becomes an actual experience - you can witness what exactly avant-garde for that person means.
So take a look. I'm thoroughly inspired by the innovative people featured. Like
Helen Homan Wu (founder of multi-media production agency Opalnest),
Julien Hallard (french film director), and
Telse Bus (food artist -- i know!). So if you're interested in artistic and creative and individualistic personalities, definitely
take a peek at the lives and stories of these people in The Avant/Garde diaries, where each profile page features a cinematic-short-film that in itself is a piece of art. With this, I wish you all a lovely weekend (all rain for me).
